Cathedral School Drama Club Presents…

 “The Golden Age of Radio”

Now, here is a unique opportunity for you and your friends.  This October, the Cathedral School

Drama Club will present its first old time radio show.  Spooky tales by Edgar Allen Poe and other

authors brought to life as a 1940's live radio play!   Recorded in front of a live audience complete

with music, sound effects, and nerve shattering suspense.

Radio show rehearsals will be in the Guild Hall from 5:00-6:00pm on Thursdays through October.  Auditions are on Thursday, October 1^st at 5:00 and we will perform on Saturday October 31^st! 

Bring the attached permission slip to auditions on the 1^st!

Dear Drama Club Members and Parents,

Welcome back to school and welcome to the fall/winter drama season at Cathedral School!  I am so anxious to kick off my sixth of year directing plays at Cathedral School.  Every year the Cathedral School Drama Club gets bigger and better, and this year promises to be our most exciting and progressive year yet! 

The Drama Club is for fifth through eighth graders and meets for rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The first week of rehearsals will be from 3:15-4:30 in the Art Room.  Starting September 22^nd rehearsals will be in the Guild Hall and run until 5:00.  During the first two weeks of drama we will focus on learning theater games, practicing acting techniques, and preparing for auditions.  After we cast our play we will rehearse regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays to prepare for our big winter performance.

 I have attached some important information and forms to this letter, some of which will need to be returned to me. This packet includes:

September schedule.  Every month a new schedule will be handed out and posted on the drama club website.  Please note the time and place changes listed in the September schedule. 

Cast Contract. Drama is a lot of fun but is also a big commitment. All drama members are required to sign and hand in a contract agreement before they can audition to be cast in the play. Contracts are to be signed by both student and parent.  This is very important.  I will always have extra copies of the contract with me, and there will also be extra copies in the office if needed.

Contact Information.  This form is printed on the back of the Cast Contract.  Please take the time to fill it out.   By including your e-mail address I will be able to update you directly with new schedules and announcements via the drama club website.

Cathedral School Drama Club Cast Contract

Participation as a cast member in the Cathedral School Drama Club is optional but requires commitment.  All fifth through eighth graders that audition are eligible to be a cast member, providing they adhere to the following policies and expectations.  All students that wish to be cast in the play(s) must hand in his or her signed contract before they audition. 

Absences make it difficult for everyone involved in the program to make progress.  If a student is present at school, he or she is expected to be at rehearsal on time.  Cast members are allowed to be tardy or absent twice from rehearsal.  The third absence or tardy will result in his or her role being recast, and upon the fourth absence or tardy the student will be dismissed from the Drama Club.  Any absence from rehearsal without a written excuse from a parent, guardian, or teacher will be considered unexcused.  Any absence due to a disciplinary detention will be considered unexcused.  Special attendance arrangements may be made for any cast members with prior obligations. 

Respect in the Cathedral Drama Club is mandatory.  Disrespectful language or behavior will not be tolerated.  Written warnings will be issued upon a cast member’s first and second offence.   Upon the third offence the cast member will be dismissed from the drama club.  

Deadlines will be given, and are to be met as assigned.  Deadlines may include, but are not limited to, line memorization and costume completion. 

By signing this, we understand and agree to all the terms stated above.  As a cast member I promise to be respectful, cooperative, and enjoy Drama Club throughout the fall/winter 2009/2010 season.
